It’s Ok Guys, Sandals Really Are Meant To Be Mens Shoes
There was a time when the category of mens shoes had a narrow niche called mens sandals. For a time they were only worn by older men, I think you had to be retired to pass, and with the requisite white socks. While those brethren are still among us, the next layer of male resistance would cave in if the occasion allowed them to.
Like going to the beach with the wife and kids was acceptable. But even then they had to be square blocked hunks of manly and uncomfortable gladiator looking leather of a dark or totally neutral color. I’m purposely leaving out discussion of those who thought that flimsy plastic flip flops are actually footwear.
As decades past, mens sandals started to gain what was needed to make them acceptable in the category of mens shoes. Purpose! Once sandals had a reason to exist by designing them to match events and occasions the barriers started to drop. Now you see men who want to let loose on the weekends, or in the evenings, yet not completely let their toes run wild, can now wear a pair of leather sandals and enjoy the new comfort only sandals allow.
Now when the temperatures soar, a full mens shoes sandal wardrobe with such distinct and supportive styles like fisherman sandals, men’s sport sandals, and slick slides that are equal parts dress and casual.
