The Diesel Empire
Although the Diesel Empire is a young brand they are just as successful as other fashion houses in the industry. The company concentrates on the working youth. It is a trendy, cosmopolitan and energetic environment. They are known for being different and ahead of the newest technology to promote their brand.
In 1978 the company was founded by Renzo Rosso and Adriano Goldschmid. They hired the designer Wilbert Das for their creative designs in 1991 and opened the first international shop in 1996. They launched their beachwear and Diesel Black Gold collection in 2007. Bruno Collin took over from Das in 2010.
Plus minus 2200 people work for Diesel and are from all over the world. This makes them unique and they are able to deliver a wider range of products. Their revenue is mainly from their denim range however they also show a big profit in the accessories they produce as well as the kids wear. Production for the clothing is done in Italy and the main store is based in Milan. They are also know for the accessories that they produce for example watches, belts, shoes, home products, bags, fragrances, bikes etc.
Diesel started supporting the youth’s creativity recently. They launched the Diesel-U-Music contest and they contribute to the AIDS foundation as well as the Sundance Festival. Their belief is that they need to stimulate the youth of tomorrow to become creative in thought.
Diesel stays abreast with technology and because the younger generation is their target market they have joined forces with Sony in 2008. By selling their clothing in Sony’s virtual world they expand their visibility as well as their marketing arena. Due to their unconventional thinking they make anything possible. They however do not jeopardize their quality craftsmanship.
The Diesel Empire is only starting as a leader in the industry and they have proven their worth. It is frightening to imagine this is just the beginning for them. In about 10years time the will be far ahead when it comes to fashion and design. They are innovative, different and electrifying. No one thought that youngsters will be running the denim empire.
